Description
The art of reverse painting on glass was brought to Peru by the Spaniards who settled there in the 15th century. Local artisans emulated the style and in time, the technique became recognized as a Peruvian craft tradition. Here, Peruvian artisan Gelacio Giron paints ethereal butterflies on the hinged lid of a handcrafted wooden jewelry box. The blue, black, and pink winged creatures flit amidst delicate blooms on a background of ochre and gold. The box has a single compartment.

    Better than the picture!

Posted by Jon on Jan 22nd 2018

Some companies have fantastic photographers that make a product look better than it actually is but this is one of those surprises where the product is better than the picture. I'm *very* happy with it and my nieces were overjoyed with theirs.
