Butterfly Jubilee in Antique

Fluttering butterflies are painted by hand against a field of antique white on this decorative box from Peru. Following a meticulous process, Asunta Pelaez paints the motifs on the reverse side of glass panes, accentuating the box with gold-tone trim. Inside is a single compartment for storing jewelry or other keepsakes.
