Mexican artisan Teresita Gonzalez carves the striking Pegasus of copal wood, painting it entirely by hand with intricate designs and floral motifs in a variety of colors. Alebrijes are an important part of Mexican folk art traditions, and are believed to represent guardians and guides in the spirit world. Small parts are separated for shipping to protect from breakage.
