Masks like this one are typically used by people of the Wan tribe during traditional dances at the Danfra festival of peace. During this festival, members of many different tribes come together to thank the gods for their blessings. Ghanaian artisan Salihu Ibrahim recreates that tradition with this mask, handcrafted of sese wood with horns atop the head and raffia fibers adorning the ears.
